An Internship Was A Great Experience - 1062 Words

My process in an internship was a great experience. I was working with Comunidades Unidas (Communities United) during these four months. My experience with this non-profit organization is incredible and at the same time I learned to work with members of the community. This organization works with undeserved Latino Community in the West side of Salt Lake City. I did not work an only specific area because they work in different files. However, I was a case manager who received call and tries to refer people to the different programs of this organization or contact them with other agencies. My first days in this organization were difficult for me because I started to answer the phone and try to be familiar with the information that provided†¦show more content†¦In civic engagement, my supervisor is the manager of this initiative; they work in immigration issues, labor rights, committed parents in school, leader program, etc. In both initiatives, this organization works with referrals in case that we do not provide services that our clients ask. FIRST CASE 1) A review of the case in assessment of the behavior applying HSBE model (the bio-psych-social perspective) I had a case which was really hard because a 40-year-old woman who I helped she presented me a lot of situations. According with Erickson in his stages, she is part of middle adulthood, in the stage of generativity versus stagnation. In this stage, adults experience more stress that can create problems in their different spheres. According with this woman, she was unemployed because the work agency where she worked fired for non- reason (social dimension). Then, for this cause she had three days to leave her home because she did not have money to pay the rent (social dimension). Also, she had a U-visa for problems with domestic violence (psychosocial dimension). So, she was a single mother of a girl. Additional, she had a sister with cancer in an advance phase in Guatemala (biological dimension, different client). She was worried because she was a support of her sister. She could not help anymore her sister. She was desperate because she did not have
